ABOUT JOANA:

 

     Joana is a NYC based actor and director.  She  has her BFA in Acting from Shenandoah Conservatory, where she studied under LAByrinth Theater's Scott Hudson, Martha Wollner, and Padraic Lillis.  Joana loves exploring the connections between language and the human experience. 

 

     Joana Co-founded and is the Co-Artistic Director of Rue 151 Productions.  With this company she is developing Hamlet: The Undiscovered Country.  Other projects include: assistant directing for Chris Murrah in his production of Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, assistant directing for Dara Malina in her production of Rhinoceros, and playing Malcolm and Witch 1 in Macbeth at The Tank, directed by Avery Sedlacek. Additionally, she held a directorial Observership with Eric Tucker for his 2021 production of Persuasion.  Most recently Joana assistant directed for Johanna McKeon in a June 13th 2024 reading of the new musical The Female Pope with The New Group.

     Joana is from Short Creek, West Virginia, where she was surrounded by the Greek-American and Appalachian culture of her family.  She loves exploring the plethora of music and dance traditions of her background as well as the MANY delicious recipes.  She enjoys cooking (and eating!) these great recipes to many a nerdy podcast.
